Good bye Christmas, Hello New Year

I hope all our reader's had a wonderful Christmas! It's so much preparation and build-up to the big day. Then it's over in a blink and it's time to put away the decorations. My house always feels extra bare once the flurry of season change and FallHalloweenThanksgivingChristmastime are over. Does yours? May I suggest you check our C&PLG listings on eBay where you might find the perfect little item to fill in a bare spot or two? I noticed our lovely and talented Leanne of  harvestmoonbythelake has some handsome penny rug candle mats listed. They are perfect for a little touch of warm color to get us through the long month of January and the dreary month of February.

Speaking of the dreary month of February, Elsie of sunshinerosie  has this sweet Valentine doll listed. Her folk art is so expressive and makes for a wonderful collectible. Click right here to see this auction and I am certain she will have more listings soon. Thanks for visiting our blog :)

Veterans Day 11/11/10

Remember the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
We owe them, and their families, so very much. Thank you!

Variety of Talents

We have a variety of talent represented in our C&PLG group and among us is a quilt maker/quilt pattern designer, Susan of SuzGuz Designs.

She was asked to submit a block for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine, Volume 2, out on newsstands now. They have started  a blog tour this week, here: Quilty Pleasures Blog and they are giving away items every day. Susan will be featured on the blog tour on Wednesday (today). However, she is also giving something away every day on her blog this week. There are some fantastic giveaways. Susan's blog is:SuzGuzDesigns Blog Visit it to learn more about Susan and her quilt designs. You will find your visit with her inspiring!

Another selling blog has opened

I just learned another of our talented ladies is busy stocking a selling blog. This one belongs to  Pat of Yellowsweetpotato and here is her link:

An adorable ragdoll Pat made a while back sits in my family room and I smile everytime I see her. Pat's crafting skills are amazing and her items every bit as finely made as they are sweet.

There's a new selling blog on the block

One of our C&PLG ladies has opened a new selling blog. Jaja works with beautiful vintage wools that she upcycles. I am the proud owner of one of her penny rug runners and her stitch work is wonderful. Check out Jaja's offerings at her selling blog, Jaja's Enchanting Shop. You can also find her on etsy, Jaja's Enchanting Vintage Quilt Shop .

A trip to Alaska

No not me but my neighbor. They left for Alaska on vacation and I got to baby sit her flowers. Mind you this lady has an acre and it is all in different flower beds. While it is wonderful to live by your own personal park it is a lot of work to babysit. We were in a heat wave and drought at the time they left for 12 days I was in charge keeping this alive. I spent 1 1/2 hours daily watering just the potted plants. But must say I owed her because she took care of my flowers for 6 weeks while we traveled this summer. So since i got a new lap top and wanted to play around and see how the picture thingy worked I took some photos to share with you all. Hope you enjoy them because fall is coming on fast here in our neck of the woods.

So i hope you enjoyed your tour of my neighbors back yard. Now mind you this is just the back yard the front yard is just as beautiful. The buiding you see is her garden shed

SUMMERTIME... and the livin is easy....

well it is summer and we are all out and about enjoying the pretty weather. Personally I love the hot humid weather but I know others do not.
This is how I try to spend as much time as possible during the summer because winter is right around the corner *blek* I am not a winter fan at all.
so if I was a rich woman this is where I would probably like to live *DAYTONA BEACH FLORIDA* We spend a week there every year and I love it. I think I could easily be a beach bum.

Then when we are home I try to spend as much time as possible outside. Although I must say the humidity has been to high even for me. But we have an above ground pool so enjoying that this summer. Grandkids and our grown kids have been here a lot this summer so it has been very busy. Plus we had two granddaughters graduate from high school. One in Wisconsin and one in Tennessee so we were on the road for about two months straight. But there is NO PLACE like home.

Although I have loaded my shop on ETSY with alot of items this week. Hurry over and check out YELLOWSWEETPOTATO Etsy shop..
Well I wish you all a happy fun filled summer.

Elephant Stew Recipe

I purchased a cookbook at the Salvation Army Thrift Shop this morning and found this unusual recipe in it.

ELEPHANT STEW:
1 med size elephant, 2 rabbits (optional) salt and pepper

Cut the elephant into small bite-size pcs. This will take about 2 months. Cook over a 465 deg kerosene fire about 4 wks. Serves 3800 people. If more are expected, the 2 rabbits may be added but do it only if necessary, most people don't like hare in their stew.

April Giveaway Is Here

Hi Everyone,

The April giveaway is finally here : )

Happy Spring! I just love this time of year with the birds singing and the flowers starting to bloom, soooo for this months giveaway I made a cute little floral needlepunch pouch. This is a design by Threads That Bind. I just love their designs. The back of the needlepunch piece is backed with a pretty light green wool. The back of the pouch is the same red wool as the straps on the pouch. I attached a few vintage buttons with a rusty pin.

To enter the giveaway just leave a comment and an email address so I can get in touch with the winner. I will draw the names for the lucky winner on April 30th. Thanks for visiting our blog and good luck!

Note: the little red dot you see on the notepads is from the reflection of my camera flash off the clear plastic wrap.
