What have I been Working on Wednesday!

Well my working on Wednesday project has taken 2 weeks....so far.

I have been cleaning out closets!!!

The last closet I started was the closet of my 22 year old son, Brian. This closet really, really needed to be cleaned out. My son told me he would get to it soon, well he 's been saying that for months now. So on Saturday morning my husband, Mike and I went up to his room armed with garbage bags and cleaning supplies to get that closet clean. I have to say that Goodwill was a big winner in this project. LOL The room wasn't that bad but he got a new bed so I wanted to give his room a good cleaning. As many of you know one project leads to another.... I told Brian I would help him if he wanted his room painted. The next day we were ripping down the wall paper border and painting. Now the room is perfect! I checked last night and the room is still perfect...2 days and counting. LOL

I also cleaned out our office closet and found this poem that I know many of you can relate to.

A Crafter's Poem

Crafts are here, crafts are there.
My craft supplies are everywhere.
I really should clean this mess,
But I like it, I must confess.
Floor is littered, chairs are piled,
Kitchen’s looking pretty wild.
On the table counter too,
Seems that any place will do.
Hall is stacked with cartons high,
Filled with things folks like to buy.
Garage is full, but so far…
There’s still room to park the car.
I never have an idle day,
New ideas come my way.
Don’t know yet what I’ll create,
But at least my imagination’s great.
My family smiles, they don’t complain,
Although at times I know I'm a pain.
But when all is said and done,
I really am a crafty one !!!!

I LOVE PUNCHNEEDLE

I always enjoy working with my hands, whether it's hooking a rug or doing a punchneedle piece. Punchneedle is my favorite craft and I work at it daily. It takes me approximately 12 hours to make a 5"x7" piece. This piece was inspired by a vintage Easter card. Choosing colors is probably the biggest challenge for me. I sell on e-bay and try to make two a week. I usually only use the same pattern once a year, it takes a lot of ideas and of course I love buying patterns from others. I have found vintage greeting cards to be a great source of ideas.
Happy Spring everyone!!

First signs of Spring

Well look at what I found growing by my back porch... Yellow yellow daffodil, dancing in the sun..
oh yellow , yellow daffodil, you tell me spring has come.
I can hear a blue bird sing, and hear a robin call.
but yellow yellow daffodil I love you most of all.

My little pumpkins enjoying some springtime sunshine. The four legged babe thinks he's one of the kids too.

What are you working on Wednesday?

Today was a busy day of sewing for me. I made 18 blocks just like the ones shown in the picture above. My best friend and I are working on a wedding quilt for her son! We plan to finish the top at our bee's quilt retreat next weekend. The top will have 50 blocks of the star alternating with 50 snowball blocks. The pattern is usually called Tennessee Waltz, but because the couple will be Texans(he is a native Texan) it is renamed TX2step! This quilt is quite different from the first TX2step I made(my avatar) as it has a very controlled set of fabrics. When it's all finished, I'll post a picture of the quilt...maybe not until after the wedding, which will be Memorial Day weekend.

It will be our first trip back to Galveston since Hurricane Ike. The TV reports have been so sad, and it will be difficult to see all the changes. But Ricky was one of my fifth graders a long time ago, and I'm honored to be invited to their wedding!

What Are You Working on Wednesday?

Today I will be sewing corn to go along with this cute crow. The fabric is a corn print so half the work is done for me already! Wish I could grow a vegetable garden this easily ;)This pattern is from imseeingraggedies
I also want to work on this Colonial doll's dress. She is made from an Annie Beez pattern and is the third one I've made. I entered my first gal in our County Fair and she won a blue ribbon. She now sits in my family room next to the fireplace. The second doll I made as a gift for my sister. If this one turns out like I hope, she will go for sale on ebay. The dress sewing on these dolls is a little more involved than my usual prim dresses so the change is fun. Other than that I will be working on keeping warm because our spring temps that were in the
50's are dropping back into the 30's and we could get snow showers again. Booooo hiss! Enjoy your Wednesday friends! Maureen ~stitchesnmore

I'm Working on Punchneedle

What have I been working on this week?
Punchneedle!
I'm a punching fool! The more I do the more I want to do.
Now I have to decide if I want to stain them. What do you think?
I just love the colors against the black background.
I think I will frame this one or maybe attach it to box.

I think this little bird is so cute!

A punchneedle I finished and have on ebay.

I'm still working on penny rugs.
After a while my hand gets a little sore so then I start on penny rugs again.
I'm building up inventory for my fall craft fairs....that's a good thing.
I want to get a lot of punchneedle and penny rugs done before it gets nice outside.
Happy stitching,
~*~Leanne~*~
