I punched up this design on weavers cloth with my own hand dyed embroidery floss and Valdani pearl cotton. I turned it into a pillow, by stuffing it with sawdust, and just a little bit of lavender. The lavender smells wonderful. I attached a black and red plaid wool to the back. I finished off the edge with a black and burnt orange homespun yarn. I had a lot of fun making this pillow : ).
If you would like to enter the giveaway drawing, just leave a comment in the post and your email address, or a way I can get in touch with you if you are the winner.
On November 1st, I will put all of the names in a hat and have my fiance Dan draw the winning name : ) Check back then to see if you are the winner.

Now for the August giveaway info ~
I've made this sweet prairie, stump dolly with a OOAK stitched apron. The dolly is called a stump doll because she does not have legs. I have formed her body from osnaburg & filled her with fine sawdust. For added detail, I have hand stitched the seams with linen thread. She is dressed simply, prim with a wool dress that is the color of olde parchment. Her bonnet/scarf is a scrap from an old grain sack that has been tied on with a strand of jute twine.
Her apron has been stitched with cotton floss on linen with early motifs ~ a horse, an olde key, flowers, and a cross. I've also stitched the initials 'MES'. Why MES? I have a great fondness for the woman that lived on our farm before us. Her name is Mary Elizabeth Sowers. :)
The dolly has been aged with my walnut & spice mix... adding instant oldness. I've trimmed her with a few rusty pins, a bell, and a sprig of preserved, Sweet Annie. (The Sweet Annie isn't in the photographs, but it is tucked into the jute around her waist.)
She measures about 10 1/2 inches from the top of her head to the edge of her dress and about 4 1/2 inches from hand to hand.
Now for the giveaway details & rules ~
This giveaway will end on August 31st. The winner will be drawn on September 1st, 2009.
To enter, you MUST sign up on THIS POST ONLY. AND, I have to have a way to contact you. If you do not have a blog with email info, be sure to include it on your post.
I'm not going to limit entries to those only in the US, BUT, if the winner lives outside of the US, the parcel will be sent at the least expensive rate. That means it may take longer to get there. However, I will be mailing out the dolly ASAP. I promise you that!
If you would like to know more about me ~ please visit my blog... primitivebettys. I craft in many different mediums ~ cross stitch, dolly making, rug hooking, and needle punch to name a few. I'm a cross stitch designer & my patterns are carried by two world-wide distributors. Oh, and if you like freebies... I have lots of them that you can link to from my blog.
Warm smiles to you all and best of luck on the giveaway!

I'd like you to meet the new love in my life. For Mother's Day this year my 81 year old neighbor recieved a 4 month old puppy from her son. His name is Biscuit and he is cute and sweet and a real fun lovin' guy! She doesn't like walking him, so I walk him every morning and it's a great way to start the day. I get to play and have fun with him for about 30 minutes every morning and then return him to his owner. I really look forward to our time together. Ain't he sweet???

(yes they're ALL in the basket, just hidden on the side)
AND THE WINNER IS...
Sharon with email addy sharr1226. (Sorry for the "other Sharon" who just got their hopes up)
I love this photo, he reminds me of Garfield and clearly you can tell I was bothering him while trying to get this picture. Look at that discusted look on his furry face.
What I am working on today.. pretty much the same every day/night. I sit on my hiney in front of this silly ole monitor and try to create graphics. I have been doing this for about 11 years. I have been on ebay since 2002, where I put them to use creating auction templates and such. My latest interest is making hang tags with my primitive designs and mini product tags.
The other day Robert and I went out to lunch at our favorite Deli and they have this saying painted on the wall down a long hallway. Save the Earth . . . It's the only planet that has chocolate . . .
That has been on my mind and I finally came up with an address label so I could use that saying. So here is what I came up with. I just love it.
You never know, this might be the start to a entirely new line of whimsical sayings hmmmm . . . I will have to see about that. I am neither whimsical or whitty.
Thanks for reading ~ Have a great day

These eggs are ceramic with a crackled finish. One is banded and the other polka-dotted. They have a wire ribbon that can easily be replaced to better suit your decorating style, if desired.
If you would like to enter the drawing, please leave a comment in the post. That's it! The only stipulation is that you must have a mailing address in the USA.
I will select a winner on APRIL 15 (because that day should NOT be all about tax deadlines). Check back to see if you're the winner!
We'd like to extend a special welcome to those new to our blog. And to our dear friends who are devoted and regular followers, THANK YOU for sharing our little slice of cyber space.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

I have been cleaning out closets!!!
The last closet I started was the closet of my 22 year old son, Brian. This closet really, really needed to be cleaned out. My son told me he would get to it soon, well he 's been saying that for months now. So on Saturday morning my husband, Mike and I went up to his room armed with garbage bags and cleaning supplies to get that closet clean. I have to say that Goodwill was a big winner in this project. LOL The room wasn't that bad but he got a new bed so I wanted to give his room a good cleaning. As many of you know one project leads to another.... I told Brian I would help him if he wanted his room painted. The next day we were ripping down the wall paper border and painting. Now the room is perfect! I checked last night and the room is still perfect...2 days and counting. LOL
I also cleaned out our office closet and found this poem that I know many of you can relate to.
A Crafter's Poem
Crafts are here, crafts are there.
My craft supplies are everywhere.
I really should clean this mess,
But I like it, I must confess.
Floor is littered, chairs are piled,
Kitchen’s looking pretty wild.
On the table counter too,
Seems that any place will do.
Hall is stacked with cartons high,
Filled with things folks like to buy.
Garage is full, but so far…
There’s still room to park the car.
I never have an idle day,
New ideas come my way.
Don’t know yet what I’ll create,
But at least my imagination’s great.
My family smiles, they don’t complain,
Although at times I know I'm a pain.
But when all is said and done,
I really am a crafty one !!!!
Have a crafty day!

Today was a busy day of sewing for me. I made 18 blocks just like the ones shown in the picture above. My best friend and I are working on a wedding quilt for her son! We plan to finish the top at our bee's quilt retreat next weekend. The top will have 50 blocks of the star alternating with 50 snowball blocks. The pattern is usually called Tennessee Waltz, but because the couple will be Texans(he is a native Texan) it is renamed TX2step! This quilt is quite different from the first TX2step I made(my avatar) as it has a very controlled set of fabrics. When it's all finished, I'll post a picture of the quilt...maybe not until after the wedding, which will be Memorial Day weekend.
It will be our first trip back to Galveston since Hurricane Ike. The TV reports have been so sad, and it will be difficult to see all the changes. But Ricky was one of my fifth graders a long time ago, and I'm honored to be invited to their wedding!

I also want to work on this Colonial doll's dress. She is made from an Annie Beez pattern and is the third one I've made. I entered my first gal in our County Fair and she won a blue ribbon. She now sits in my family room next to the fireplace. The second doll I made as a gift for my sister. If this one turns out like I hope, she will go for sale on ebay. The dress sewing on these dolls is a little more involved than my usual prim dresses so the change is fun. Other than that I will be working on keeping warm because our spring temps that were in the
50's are dropping back into the 30's and we could get snow showers again. Booooo hiss! Enjoy your Wednesday friends! Maureen ~stitchesnmore
